Moving? Don’t Be Afraid To Ask For Help
If you need to move soon, and are feeling a little overwhelmed with everything that you need to get done before your move, don't be afraid to ask for help! A moving company can help you out with various tasks related to your move that will take the stress off of you.
Leave the Packing to the Professionals
If the idea of packing up your entire house is overwhelming, leave the majority of the packing to the professionals. You can hire a local moving team to come in and pack up your entire house, from your kitchen to your bedrooms and bathrooms. The packers are well-trained on how to effectively pack-up homes, and can pack up your entire home in a matter of hours instead of days.
If you hire professionals to pack-up your home, you may still want to do a little prep work. Before the movers come to pack up your home, spend some time going through each room, removing items you don't want to transport to your new home. You may also want to pack an "essentials" box for each member of your family and each room in your house with the items they will need right away, so you know what box to unpack first in each room of your home. Or you can gather an essential pile together and label it for the moving team to pack up.
Let the Movers do the Heavy Lifting
Don't try to take on the heavy lifting when it comes to moving day. Allow your movers to lift and transport all of the boxes and furniture into the moving van and into your new home. The movers will wrap up and protect your furniture and ensure that it is not damaged during the move. They will stack the boxes up into the moving van, and drive the van to your new home. When they get to your new home, they will unpack your house as well.
Help out the movers by labeling which room is which so they know where to put the boxes. For example, the first downstairs bedroom may be "Kid's Room #1" and the second downstairs bedroom may actually be the "Home Office". Putting labels at the entrance to each room in your new house will make it easier for the movers to place your boxes and furniture.
Get Help Unpacking
Movers are not just great for moving your belongings out of one home; they can help you unpack as well. You can allow them to take over the entire unpacking process and use their best judgement on where things go in each room, which will be easier if the packing team does the unpacking as well. Or you can work along the unpacking team, helping and directing them on where to put items. Having a team of individuals to help you unpack is one way to ensure that you don't still have boxes sitting around your house for weeks to come.
If you are moving, and don't really have the time to pack, move, and unpack all on your own, see if a local moving company, like Fairfax Transfer and Storage Inc., can help you out with these tasks.
